Introduction


From a judgment and decision-making standpoint, Infinity is an exceptionally complex game due to both the number of parameters impacting every decision, and the lethality of the game system – a single FtF roll has the potential to drastically swing the course of the game. Even in a single order, a very large number of parameters must be taken into consideration. These include parameters that are easily quantifiable, such as modifiers to each participant in a Face to Face roll, as well as parameters that are far more difficult to quantify, such as the impact of a given result on the state of the table and, by extension, the mission. Lots of newer players have communicated to me a similar experience, “I am beginning my turn, but I don’t know what to do!” The purpose of this article is to discuss a decision-making technique typically employed at the platoon or company level by military commanders during the planning phase of an operation, and how you can apply this technique to make better decisions in Infinity.

Tactics: Armand "Le Muet"

Everybody’s super secret alien-outcast, supreme sniper, and special operative for somebody… Armand “Le Muet” is arguably one of the coolest characters in the whole of the Human Sphere (seriously, go read his fluff).


And while Le Muet works for all vanilla factions and has been with us for a while, he is surprisingly under-rated and chronically underplayed. Something not helped by the fact that he was an ITS exclusive for his first year, and only just received a full release sculpt for general use, last year.


But in true Lazarus fashion, it’s time to turn this ship around. No bounty hunter this awesome deserves to sit gathering dust on anybody’s shelves...

Hobby Time: Welcome to Dawn, Part 1

Not only do I write articles and not only do I paint, build, and convert Infinity models, I sometimes create terrain too! 'Welcome to Dawn' is the code-name of my current terrain project and the title of the series that will be featuring my journey through creating the coolest and greatest Dawn-inspired table that I can create!

Note, my plan is to make a more wild, swampy, and ruined table than an actual settlement on Dawn. The backstory is that this used to be a populace town, until the wars ruined it and the planet started taking it back over. There will be remnant military vehicles, current shanties trying to refurbish the town, ruined buildings/shanties, trees, swamp ponds, ruined and rusted pipelines, old industrial buildings, etc. The coolest part about this project is that most of it will be created by my own hands and supplies I can muster, and this is the first time I've actually scratch built terrain. It'll be interesting to see how it shapes up.

Guest Writer: Ghazi Muttawi'ah, A Beginner's Guide

Without further ado....

Ah, the Ghazi Muttawi'ah, the bane of many opponents and one that sows discord across the battlefield - but only if you know how to use them. This is why I am here writing this beginner's guide. Muttawi'ah (from here on known as Mutts) are another finesse tool that come from the finesse Sectorial - Hassassin Bahram. Vanilla Haqqislam can also use them, and I highly suggest that you do. They won't be expert killers or complete many objectives but what they will do is strike at your opponent's order pool to reduce the amount of regular orders they have during their turn, break up pesky fireteams to reduce the bonuses they get and immobilize + isolate any hackable units that are HI, remotes or TAGs. This is why you will hear many lament about seeing Mutts on the board and they may even target them first to get them off the board. Much as a regular PanOceania opponent of mine has done after I immobilized his Knight of Montessa and Tikbalang; he now has sworn vengeance on my Mutts, which is fine, because he is spending orders his first turn to eliminate 5 point models. That is the true insidious nature of the Mutt: If left alone, they will wreck havoc but if you go to take care of them, you are spending orders to eliminate units that don't have much effect on the rest of the army. This is why many Haqqislam players are so glad that they got smoke with HSN3, it makes them well worth their points. Without further delay, let us delve deep into the dreaded Ghazi Muttawi'ah!
