Deep Thought: ALEPH, Vedic Style!
It is one of the peculiarities of Infinity that while some forces have a range of Sectorial options, there are others which (despite existing in potentia, sometimes for years) we cannot yet field as an independent force. of the most infamous of these is the Vedic forces of ALEPH. So called by the name and background inspiration they take from the Vedic Hindu tradition, as opposed to the Greek mythological source of the Steel Phalanx. Technically speaking these units are the Special Situations Section of the ALEPH forces, and contain largely remote and lhost units directly controlled by ALEPH.
It is important to open with a note on the aesthetic of the ALEPH forces, especially those in the Vedic options. This is one place where the anime influence of Infinity is clear, and the style of some of the minis might not be to the taste of players who want a more “military” look. However you should keep in mind that (Posthumans aside) every model you put on the table is an artificial personality within a perfect biomechanical shell. In other words, the sexy is there because that’s what we humans think “perfect” looks like… and ALEPH is always striving to give us what we want.

Deep Thought: Keeping the Hobby Fresh

We all know the feeling. It happens to the best of us. You've been playing Infinity (or other wargame of choice) for years, playing the same games against the same people. The luster has worn off the pearl, and you're starting to lose interest. The honeymoon is over, and the game has grown stale.

It's Sgt. Rock again, and I want to address something that I've had to deal with myself very recently. We've all been there with some sort of hobby; be it a favorite video game, a creative pursuit like writing or painting, or a miniatures wargame. You've been at it for a long time, and you've fallen into a rut. Your interest is starting to wander. Before you shelve those models, however, I thought I'd share my thoughts on how to refresh our particular little pastime. Delineated below are my ideas for keeping Infinity fresh and fun.

NCA Tactica - Part 1 (Light Infantry/Skirmishers)

When I first approached the Pride of Rodina and my fellow writers, there was a lot of interest in doing more tactica style pieces, and certainly it seems to be something we’re finding that you readers out in the community enjoy as well. With a few Pano players among our ranks, it only seemed like a matter of time after the excellent SAA tactica went up that a couple of us wanted to do something comprehensive on the amazing Neoterra Capitaline Army (NCA) sectorial... And so, RFJ and I went to work on putting something interesting together for you all.

Of course, what authoritative guide on the NCA sectorial would be complete without the input of one of the best and most highly regarded NCA players out there - our multi-event winning NCA general, also known as Barakiel on the forums! We were very fortunate to have both his input and his interest in putting together this work, culminating in not just two of the best NCA players among our regular writers, but also the valuable guest input from an expert in our Infinity community.

Tactics: Getting the Most Out of Your JSA Specialists

You like robo-samurai, ninjas, and gangster bikers, eh? Yeah, I can't blame you. Only problem is, how do you do objectives? You've got only a few specialists and so many options for kicking in doors or destroying the opposition, but stealing intel. from a console in the middle of no where? Not exactly what a faction dedicated to robo-samurai excels at. In other words, eliminating the enemy can be pretty easy to figure out for JSA, but doing objectives can be a wee bit complicated.

Let me help you figure out the right specialists for the job and cover ways to help them achieve their mission.

Guest Writer: Welcome to Infinity (Try Not to Get Shot)

A guest article written by Bob Lindstrom

If there’s one thing I’ve noticed about Infinity, it’s that there are plenty of articles for what Infinity is, but very few on exactly how to get into it.  Coming from someone who enjoys tabletop skirmishes, I freakin’ LOVE this game.  I love the theme, I love the rules, I love the models, and I love the community.  That being said, it’s not the easiest game to get into; Infinity starter boxes just contain the models, and nothing else.  I’ve only been playing for 6 months, and there is still a lot more for me to take in.  This game is complex, and when I had a question, I was lucky enough to have a friend who helped me out (and also helped write this article).  There is very little hand-holding when it comes to Infinity, and while a lot of the resources are free online, having a roadmap on where to find them would certainly have benefited me.

So, for all the new players out there, consider this your roadmap for getting started in this exciting, fast-paced, tabletop game.

From one noob to another, welcome to the world of Infinity! Try not to get shot.

Battle Report: LVO Writeup - One Gopnik's Attempt to Take the Crown

So... The Las Vegas Open (LVO). :)

Having planned to attend months ago, this event was a long time coming. This huge national event was held at Bally's Casino, and people flew in from all over to be here. Fortunately for our little group, we were the locals, and the event was a mere 30 minutes drive away!
